Help tell the story of home in Greater Lowell.
In 2024, the Northern Middlesex County of Governments (NMCOG) launched a year-long strategic planning process, At Home in Greater Lowell. This initiative focuses on housing and the challenges and opportunities facing residents in the Greater Lowell region.
The project will result in a long-term housing plan that guides communities on making housing, including homeownership, more affordable and accessible for everyone.
To better understand people’s experiences and engage more residents in the planning process, NMCOG and Stellar are partnering to collect meaningful housing stories, some of which will be shared in our upcoming public education campaign in the fall of 2024.
Four opportunities to participate.

Everyone has a housing story. We are collecting meaningful stories from residents about housing challenges, opportunities, and solutions in Northern Middlesex County. Here are examples:

Experiences of the unhoused and housing insecure;

Stories highlighting the connection between housing and other quality of life indicators, including education, employment, health, and social networks.

Stories of collaboration to resolve housing challenges.

We are currently recruiting 15 residents to support the public education campaign. Participants will help share and identify compelling housing stories in their community. They will receive housing and communications training, outreach support, and a $250 honorarium.

In September, Stellar will lead a free two-hour housing storytelling workshop for housing professionals and community members. During the workshop, learn how to identify and develop housing stories that lead to meaningful dialogue. Free with registration.
